Vitalik: The key goal of validators is to avoid concentration of power, especially in areas such as consensus rule verification

Odaily News Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin recently responded to questions raised by Ethereum core developer Péter Szilágyi about the networks decentralization and verification mechanism. Regarding how validators can obtain 32MB of blob transaction data every 12 seconds, Buterin proposed two possible strategies: each validator is only responsible for building 1/16 of the block, or the validator only performs DAS checks without fully downloading the data. Regarding the issue of Verkle tree design not deleting storage slots, Buterin said that the impact of storage slot deletion is currently quite small. He denied the claim of abandoning the transaction pool, emphasizing that this is an outdated idea and inconsistent with the current research direction of Ethereum. Buterin acknowledged that verification does not require an execution layer (EL), but emphasized that this does not mean that it is difficult for most people to run EL. He pointed out that the use of SNARKs technology may enable more users to achieve full verification. Buterin emphasized that the key goal of validators is to avoid concentration of power, especially in consensus rule verification, fork selection, and transaction inclusion. He believes that there is no need to re-execute the EVM cycle during the period of witnessing only.
