NEO founder: Account X was hacked due to a phishing email recently, and control has now been regained
2024-07-09 07:22
Odaily News NEO founder Da Hongfei posted on X that he has regained control of the X account and expressed sincere apologies to the community. He explained that he received an email at 11:30 pm Singapore time on July 6th asking for a password reset. When he saw the email 50 minutes later, he realized that the X account had been locked. The hacker changed his X account password, enabled two-factor authentication (2FA), and then began posting posts containing scam links. Da Hongfei pointed out that the hack was caused by previously connecting multiple third-party websites/applications (office and calendar management services) to email. The hacker somehow used these permissions to gain access to read the contents of his emails.
