HKEX: Virtual asset spot ETFs can conduct margin financing, subject to the risk management policies of individual exchange participants

Odaily News Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) issued a notice on the launch of virtual asset spot exchange-traded funds, stating that similar to other exchange-traded products and stocks, virtual asset spot exchange-traded funds can be margin financed, depending on the risk management policy of individual exchange participants. However, given the high volatility of virtual asset spot exchange-traded funds, exchange participants should be particularly cautious when providing margin financing for the purchase and sale of such products to customers, and exchange participants should comply with the SFC's guidelines on securities margin financing activities.
