Craig Wright drops defamation appeal in Norway
2024-04-11 21:21
Odaily News Australian computer scientist Craig Wright has stopped appealing a defamation case he lost in Norway in 2022 involving his claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous founder of Bitcoin. The appeal is against Magnus Granath, a Norwegian citizen who tweeted heated words against Wright. In 2022, a Norwegian judge sided with Granath on his choice of words and other written statements, a decision that Wright sought to appeal. Granath announced on social media: “Just got off the phone with my Norwegian lawyer and my 2022 win is now final and enforceable. This case started on May 19, 2019 and continues to this day. I am very Delighted! Now I just need to get the UK case dismissed/win and I can move on. Wright filed a defamation lawsuit against Granath in Norway in May 2019, alleging that the writing and defamatory comments were intended to harm someone reputation. (The Block)
