Odaily News Optimism posted on the X platform that Optimism is starting the process of establishing a security council, which will move it towards a more decentralized super chain network. Seeking community feedback on the first in a series of governance recommendations to establish the council. Optimism said the establishment of the Security Council underlines Optimism’s commitment to decentralization. Optimism said it will put forward a governance proposal aimed at adding the Security Council as a signatory to the multi-sig that controls OP mainnet protocol upgrades. The full Security Council will consist of at least eight members, with a 75% signature threshold, and will be implemented through a series of governance votes. During this initial phase, the Security Council will become a co-signatory of the multi-signature. This means it will become a 2/2 signer of the current OP mainnet multisig. Later, follow-up governance proposals will be proposed, with multi-signatures specifically transferred to the Security Council. On October 12, Token House will vote on whether to approve this change to the OP mainnet security model. Upcoming TH votes include votes to approve the initial membership of the Security Council, as well as votes on protocol upgrades needed to fully implement the Council.
