Odaily News - Michael Wagner, CEO of Star Atlas, a blockchain-based game on the Solana platform, outlined the company's new vision in the community, including a focus on creating lower-cost game projects.
He mentioned that they are aiming to release a new version of the online browser game Sage in approximately three weeks. Wagner hopes that the launch of Sage and the mobile game will turn the fate of Star Atlas around.
Wagner stated, "For me, this mobile application is an excellent opportunity to expand our user base; from the company's perspective, it actually provides an opportunity to generate revenue from a new asset class." (The Block)
Earlier, it was revealed that Automata (ATMTA), the development studio behind Star Atlas, is undergoing a major restructuring to address the challenging market environment.
Michael Wagner, CEO of the company, said, "ATMTA is undergoing significant layoffs to ensure its long-term ability to develop Star Atlas, prioritizing our SAGE and mobile products, which may show better results in a shorter period while extending the development timeline for our other products."
ATMTA suffered a loss of about $15 million in the FTX incident, which constituted a significant portion of its available cash balance. As a result, they have decided to downsize the team and refocus on the SAGE game and mobile applications. The remaining core team will consist of 45 people, reduced from a peak of 235 people at the end of 2022, following the FTX incident.
Following the restructuring, ATMTA will operate with a leaner team to ensure they have the necessary agility and focus to deliver their key products and maintain their existing ones. This move is also aimed at increasing the company's attractiveness to potential investors to expand product development when conditions permit.
