Odaily News: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) filed a lawsuit in the Manhattan federal court on Thursday against Celsius Network and its former CEO, Alex Mashinsky.
According to insiders, Alex Mashinsky was arrested on Thursday morning for his involvement in the company's bankruptcy investigation. (Bloomberg)
Earlier reports disclosed that in early July, investigators from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) concluded that Celsius Network and its former CEO, Alex Mashinsky, violated U.S. regulations before the platform's bankruptcy. If the majority of CFTC commissioners agree with this conclusion, the agency may file a lawsuit in federal court as early as this month. One source stated that attorneys from the enforcement agency determined that Celsius misled investors and should have been registered with the CFTC, and Alex Mashinsky also violated regulatory provisions. Additionally, the U.S. SEC and Manhattan prosecutors are conducting related investigations.
