Crypto.com and Novig Sue Missouri, Seeking to Halt Enforcement of Sports Event Contract Ban
Crypto.com's prediction market trading platform and Novig filed suit against Missouri officials in federal court last Friday, asking a judge to bar the state from taking enforcement action against their sports event contracts. Previously, Missouri Attorney General Catherine Hanaway sent cease-and-desist letters in September to six platforms, including the two companies, demanding they stop offering sports event contracts to state residents within 30 days or obtain a state license and pay a 10% tax. Crypto.com claims the cease-and-desist letter was mistakenly sent to Foris DAX, Inc. rather than the trading platform itself; Missouri's constitution only allows two mobile sports prediction licenses to be issued, and both have already been granted, making license acquisition an unviable option.
Blockchain security firm Hacken's report shows that in Q3 2026, the crypto industry experienced 107 security incidents with losses totaling $1.18 billion, up 55% quarter-over-quarter. Of these, approximately $906.8 million in losses involved compromised vendors or development tools, known vulnerabilities not patched in time, and related components not included in the latest audit scope.
Hacken co-founder Andrii Matiukhin pointed out that project teams often only audit critical smart contracts, while wallets, signing systems, and third-party software may not be covered, leading investors to mistakenly believe the project is secure overall. The report noted that the largest loss event in Q3 was the Bitget attack, with losses of at least $352 million, where attackers exploited vulnerabilities in third-party security products to gain access to withdrawal infrastructure.
The French National Assembly passed a 2027 budget amendment by a vote of 38 in favor, 37 against, and 25 abstentions, proposing to eliminate the tax deferral treatment for converting crypto assets into single-currency stablecoins starting January 1, 2027, bringing such transactions into the capital gains tax scope.
Under the amendment, when investors convert crypto assets into stablecoins pegged to fiat currencies such as the euro or dollar, they may be required to pay capital gains tax at the current unified rate of approximately 31.4%, even if not converted into legal tender.

Ledger CEO Fires Back at Former Mt. Gox CEO: You're No White Knight, Don't Speculate
Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès posted on X, accusing Ledger of potentially avoiding over $90 million in losses had it disclosed the relevant issues more promptly and effectively, rather than only publishing an inconspicuous article on Ledger Academy. CZ Responds to BNB Phone Proposal: Not Sure Carrying a Crypto Phone Is a Good Idea
In response to BNB Chain ecosystem member Spigg's proposal to launch a BNB phone integrating a native wallet, instant payments and transfers, and consolidating all DApps in the ecosystem into one place, CZ responded that he rarely disagrees with Spigg but is not sure carrying a crypto phone is a good idea.
Michael Saylor, founder of Bitcoin treasury company Strategy, responded in a Bloomberg interview to the possibility of MSCI's new index rules removing MSTR. He said the move doesn't matter much to Strategy because the amount of capital they control is relatively small, but he is disappointed with MSCI's stance to date. Oil, natural gas, land, and machinery all count as capital, yet Bitcoin does not—this is a value judgment and actually a bias against digital assets. They are like unregistered financial advisors, setting a "bad precedent" for the entire industry, and he hopes they will reconsider. Digital assets represent the future; MSCI may not want to participate in that future, but investors won't agree, and neither will the United States. If MSCI abandons the proposal to exclude MSTR, it would benefit the entire industry.
10x Research's latest crypto market weekly report noted that the crypto market saw widespread selling last week, with altcoins declining significantly more than Bitcoin. The 141 tokens it tracks fell an average of 14%, while Bitcoin only dropped 3% over the same period. 10x Research said that current crypto market trading volume is declining, stablecoin supply continues to contract, and ETF fund flows have turned to net outflows, reflecting pressure on market liquidity.
However, options market pricing shows stress remains low, while speculative positioning in CME futures markets is near highs, indicating that the derivatives market has not yet fully reflected the weak performance of the spot market. 10x Research believes investors should focus this week on key Bitcoin technical levels, Ethereum position allocation, and capital flows and positioning changes in the altcoin market.
