U.S. Democratic Lawmakers Urge SEC to Explain Reasons for Suspending Justin Sun Enforcement Case
Odaily News: Three Democratic members of the U.S. House of Representatives have sent a letter to Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Paul Atkins, demanding an explanation for the SEC's suspension of the enforcement case against TRON founder Justin Sun. Representatives Maxine Waters, Brad Sherman, and Sean Casten stated that the prolonged delay of the relevant case could undermine investor confidence in the regulatory agency's independence and credibility.
In the letter, the lawmakers pointed out that the SEC has recently initiated or advanced the suspension or dismissal of multiple crypto-related enforcement cases, including those involving Binance, Coinbase, and Kraken, and questioned its enforcement priorities and effectiveness. Regarding the Justin Sun case, the SEC requested the court in February of this year to stay the litigation to seek a potential resolution, which has now lasted for approximately 11 months.
The lawmakers also mentioned the token trading situation between Justin Sun and World Liberty Financial, demanding that the SEC preserve and provide all documents and communication records related to the suspension of this case. The SEC has not yet issued a public response to the above inquiries. (Cointelegraph)
