Solana Foundation President Lily Liu: Tokenization Enters a "Supercycle," with Solana RWA Trading Volumes Reaching Hundreds of Billions of Dollars

2026-09-02 12:44

Odaily News – Lily Liu posted on X, stating that capital, assets, and ownership are migrating toward 24/7 internet infrastructure, forming a long-term "tokenization supercycle." Tokenization is not just moving assets onto the blockchain—it transforms the assets themselves, allowing value to be issued, held, financed, and traded in markets that never close. She noted that stablecoins have already proven that capital can flow globally on-chain, financial institutions are driving the tokenization of assets, and blockchain infrastructure is beginning to meet the speed and cost demands of real economic activity, while AI economic agents require programmable money. When these factors converge, any form of value with clear ownership could be tokenized, gaining broader access to distribution, financing, and trading channels.

Over the past year, RWA trading volumes on Solana have reached hundreds of billions of dollars, encompassing tokenized U.S. Treasuries, equities, and private credit. During the same period, stablecoin transfer volumes exceeded $4.7 trillion. Liu stated that tokenization could also allow more investors to break through geographic, minimum investment, and accreditation barriers, while enabling their holdings to be used as collateral or to generate yields. Although the current on-chain market size remains far smaller than traditional markets, the related infrastructure has the potential to reach 5.5 billion internet users globally in the future.
