日元受鹰派言论提振走强,日本央行加息幅度及节奏或超预期

The Japanese yen strengthened, buoyed by hawkish remarks, with the pace and scale of Bank of Japan rate hikes potentially exceeding expectations.

Odaily News: Bank of Japan board member Takata Hajime said he does not rule out the possibility of significant rate hikes or consecutive increases, a stance that boosted the yen. Takata is one of the most hawkish members of the BOJ board. The yen rose as much as 0.5% against the dollar to 159.44, after earlier falling to 160.39. Takata stated that a 0.25 percentage point hike is "not a done deal," and added that, overall, consecutive hikes are also a possibility.

A chief market strategist at Aozora Bank commented: "The market is reacting to Takata's clear indication that consecutive hikes are possible. His remarks are more aggressive than the recent statements from the BOJ governor and deputy governors, both in terms of the size and pace of rate increases." (Jin Shi)
