Iranian official: Deadline set for US to fully implement memorandum of understanding
Odaily Planet Daily News: A senior Iranian official said in an interview that Iran has set a deadline of several weeks for the United States to fully implement the Iran-US memorandum of understanding, and Iran will not wait indefinitely for the US to continue its maritime blockade. The official stated that due to the "stalemate in efforts to reach a permanent ceasefire agreement with the United States," Iran has decided to shift its policy "from defensive to full offensive." The official said that if diplomatic efforts fail, "Iranians are prepared to escalate tensions in the Strait of Hormuz and the region. Iran's timeline will be communicated to the United States through mediating countries."
The United States and Iran released the official text of the memorandum of understanding on June 17, with Article 3 stating that the US and Iran commit to negotiating and reaching a final agreement within a maximum of 60 days. On August 17, the 60-day negotiation window set by the memorandum expired. Due to serious disagreements over issues such as the Strait of Hormuz, US-Iran negotiations reached a stalemate without substantial progress. (CCTV News)
