美参议院通过临时拨款法案,有望避免政府停摆

The U.S. Senate on Saturday passed a temporary measure to fund federal agencies through December 11, a move aimed at averting a catastrophic federal government shutdown weeks before the November midterm elections. According to Fox News, the vote was 90 in favor and 6 against, with Senator Darlene Graham (Republican-South Carolina) abstaining. This does not necessarily completely avoid a government shutdown, but it helps prevent a shutdown on October 1, the start of the new fiscal year. The House of Representatives will still need to align on the bill after returning from recess. (Jin Shi)
