The White House economic advisor Hassett said regarding the US July jobs data that it has eased the pressure on the Federal Reserve to raise interest rates. He noted a slight softening in the participation rate, with Baby Boomers retiring, and that government employees and World Cup-related employment were partly responsible for the weak jobs figures.
