2026-08-06 12:05

Odaily News: Abbas Goudarzi, spokesperson for the Iranian Parliament's Presiding Board, stated that after more than a month of negotiations, Iran and Oman are about to finalize a new shipping arrangement agreement for the Strait of Hormuz. The proposed statement includes adjustments to shipping routes through the strait.

In addition, Goudarzi noted that the negotiations were conducted solely between Iran and Oman, and the United States was not permitted to participate. Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi said on the 5th that the agreement between Iran and Oman regarding the passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz is close to finalization, and at that time both the northern route controlled by Iran and the southern route near Oman's side will be closed.
