Iran and Oman negotiators have completed a draft of the Hormuz agreement

2026-08-05 13:50

Odaily Planet Daily News Two regional officials revealed on Wednesday that negotiators from Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on a draft agreement, which is currently awaiting final approval from Iran's Supreme Leader. The officials, who are familiar with the negotiations, stated that the potential agreement is intended to serve as an interim solution to the dispute between the US and Iran over shipping issues in the Strait of Hormuz. They noted that the agreement is related to the deal reached between the US and Iran in June this year, which aimed to end the conflict and reopen the strait, but ultimately failed to hold. They added that this potential agreement would pave the way for the US and Iran to resume negotiations and reach a final agreement on Tehran's nuclear program. (Associated Press)
