Odaily Planet Daily News On May 30 local time, US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth stated at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore that the US seeks to reach an agreement in US-Iran negotiations, but if the talks yield no results, the US is prepared to resume military strikes. The day prior, US President Trump convened a meeting on the Iran situation in the White House Situation Room but did not make a final decision on any agreement.
In February this year, the US and Israel jointly launched an attack on Iran. Subsequently, the US blockaded Iranian ports, and Iran imposed special controls on navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. The conflict has resulted in numerous casualties and a rise in global energy prices.
