Iranian Official: Any Final Agreement with the US Must Serve Iran's National Interests

2026-05-27 09:09

According to a report by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency on the 27th, Boroujerdi, a member of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, stated that any final agreement signed with the United States must serve Iran's national interests. Boroujerdi said that based on the preliminary draft agreement between Iran and the US, the first step for the US would be to commit to a 60-day comprehensive ceasefire across all fronts, including Lebanon. The draft agreement also calls for the unfreezing of most of Iran's frozen assets and the lifting of the maritime blockade. Boroujerdi emphasized that Iran's diplomatic apparatus and state system will not make decisions based on posts by US President Donald Trump. What matters to Iran is the final outcome of the negotiations; any document ultimately signed must be formulated within the framework of Iran's red lines and serve the interests of the Iranian people and the state.
