Lee Jae-myung: Calls for Establishing Cross-Government Cybersecurity Agency to Address Crypto Asset Theft Incidents
Odaily: South Korean President Lee Jae-myung, during a State Council meeting on November 3, mentioned the recent multi-billion-dollar crypto asset theft incident suffered by Binance and called for the establishment of a cross-government cybersecurity coordination agency to comprehensively oversee security protection efforts across both the public and private sectors. Lee Jae-myung stated that AI is making hacker attack techniques increasingly sophisticated, and the existing security system, which focuses primarily on post-incident inspection and response, has shown its limitations, making it necessary to establish proactive prevention mechanisms. South Korea's National Intelligence Service has currently launched emergency security inspections of more than 2,100 central and local government departments and public institutions.
