OpenAI Responds to Apple's Trade Secret Lawsuit, Claims Apple Emailed the Wrong Recipient and Releases Communication Records

Odaily News: OpenAI issued a statement responding to Apple's trade secret lawsuit, calling Apple's accusations "hasty, aggressive, and factually incorrect," and published email records as supporting evidence. OpenAI stated that Apple had previously claimed to have contacted the company in February without receiving a response, but in reality, Apple's external lawyers sent the email to the wrong recipient due to confusing names; additionally, Apple also admitted that it had not communicated with OpenAI's General Counsel regarding the matter.

Apple previously accused OpenAI of obtaining confidential information through former Apple employees Chang Liu and Tang Tan. OpenAI denied the allegations and stated that Apple employees had proactively consulted Liu about documents and technical matters even after his departure, because Apple failed to promptly revoke the system access of the departed employee.

Previously reported, Apple accused former engineer Chang Liu of exploiting system vulnerabilities after leaving the company to access the internal network drive and download dozens of confidential documents to help OpenAI develop hardware. (businessinsider)
