Odaily News – Jim Cramer stated that he plans to sell his entire Bitcoin holdings. He believes quantum computing could potentially crack Bitcoin's security mechanisms within about three years.
IBM Chairman and CEO Arvind Krishna said in a July 30 interview that quantum computing could pose a challenge to modern cryptography within the next three to four years. A paper published by Google Quantum AI in March this year estimated that fewer than 500,000 physical qubits would be needed to break the relevant cryptography — about one-twentieth of earlier projections.
Currently, the scale of physical qubits in quantum systems remains in the range of hundreds to thousands, with a limited number of logical qubits offering high reliability. Researchers estimate that about 30% of Bitcoin's supply, or 6 to 7 million BTC, is held in addresses with exposed public keys.
