Odaily reports that according to Gate market data, South Korea's KOSPI index opened 1.2% higher, with SK Hynix rising 2% after reporting a surge in second-quarter operating profit that fell short of expectations; Samsung Electronics gained 3%. Japan's Nikkei 225 index opened 0.18% higher.
