AMD to Invest Up to $5 Billion in Anthropic, AI Chip Cooperation Agreement Reached
Odaily Planet Daily News: AMD and Anthropic have reached an agreement where AMD will invest up to $5 billion in Anthropic and sign an AI server procurement partnership valued at tens of billions of dollars.
According to the agreement, starting from the first half of 2027, Anthropic can procure up to AMD's next-generation Instinct MI450 chips with a total computing power scale of 2 gigawatts. AMD stated that this investment will be tied to the agreed-upon computing power deployment targets.
AMD CEO Lisa Su stated that the engineering teams of both parties have already begun joint research and development, and AMD hopes to deeply participate in the construction of Anthropic's computing power infrastructure. Anthropic currently adopts multiple computing power solutions, including Google TPU, Amazon Trainium chips, and NVIDIA GPUs. (Wall Street Journal)
