美联储戴利强调不改变双重使命目标,但愿以新方法评估经济
Odaily Planet Daily News: Federal Reserve's Daly stated that inflation should begin to slow, but there is great uncertainty about the economic outlook. Speaking at a Bank of Spain event in Santander, Spain, on Thursday, Daly said: "We continue to keep policy at a slightly restrictive level, so inflation should decline." Daly noted that after the U.S. launched a war against Iran, tariff and oil price increases pushed up inflation this spring.
She commended the easing of the oil price surge following the truce agreement between the U.S. and Iran, calling it a "glimmer of relief," but warned it remains unclear how the economy will evolve. She outlined several scenarios that might require different responses from the Federal Reserve and suggested that the Fed may need to respond more aggressively to persistent inflation.
Daly also pointed out that she is open to using different and novel approaches to assess the economy. However, she stressed that for the Fed's credibility, it is important not to change its dual mandate goals of promoting maximum employment and stable prices. (Jin Shi)
