Iranian Foreign Ministry: Fees must be obtained for services provided in the Strait of Hormuz

2026-06-14 02:01

Odaily Planet Daily News Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Baghaei stated that Iran's measures to ensure safe passage in the Strait of Hormuz are not only for maintaining national security but also serve the common interests of the international community. Iran must receive payment for the services it provides in the Strait of Hormuz.

A recording of the ship's radio public channel, provided by a sailor on a merchant vessel near the Strait of Hormuz, indicates that the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy issued warnings to ships in the vicinity on the evening of the 13th local time, ordering them not to transit the Strait of Hormuz. The recording shows that the IRGC Navy broadcast to all vessels in the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman, stating that the Strait of Hormuz is completely closed and that any passage through the strait will be met with "decisive action." The broadcast also ordered all vessels not to move within the Strait of Hormuz until further notice.

Iran's National Security Council Deputy Naboyan previously stated that, according to the text of the Iran-US memorandum of understanding he had seen, all commercial vessels would resume passage through the Strait of Hormuz without any restrictions. (Xinhua News Agency)
