ZachXBT: US Law Firm's "Free-Riding Claims" May Hinder Hacking Victims' Fund Recovery and Compensation Process
Odaily Planet Daily News MegaETH director PaperImperium disclosed on the X platform documents from the United States District Court for the Southern District of New York, showing that a US court has issued an injunction against the Arbitrum DAO, prohibiting it from transferring approximately $71 million in ETH assets frozen during the KelpDAO hacking incident. In response, "on-chain detective" ZachXBT posted on the X platform, stating that certain US law firms are using his investigative work and on-chain forensics results to help victims of certain hacking incidents file legal claims. However, this practice actually slows down the process for victims to receive compensation/recovered funds.
ZachXBT added that in several previous hacking incidents involving the Lazarus Group, such law firms typically intervene only after on-chain fund tracking or freezing has been completed, and then propose subsequent legal actions that are weakly related to the crypto incident itself. They have also adopted similar strategies of "free-riding claims" in incidents such as Harmony and Bybit. He called on the crypto community to establish a DAO to resist such practices.
