California Meme Coin Bill AB 2409 Passes Both Houses, Will Prohibit Public Officials from Issuing and Offering Coins to Residents

The bill prohibits public officials and government employees from issuing meme coins, and prohibits the listing of meme coins for trading among California residents starting January 1, 2027. If signed by the governor, it would become the first state-level bill in the U.S. to impose systematic legislative restrictions on meme coins.
