Iranian and Omani negotiators have finalized a draft of the Hormuz agreement

2026-08-05 13:50

Odaily Planet Daily News Two regional officials revealed on Wednesday that negotiators from Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on a draft agreement, which is currently awaiting final approval from Iran's Supreme Leader. Officials familiar with the negotiations said the potential agreement is intended to serve as an interim solution to the dispute between the US and Iran over shipping issues in the Strait of Hormuz. They said the agreement is related to a deal reached between the US and Iran in June this year aimed at ending the conflict and reopening the strait, but that deal ultimately did not hold. They said the potential agreement would pave the way for the US and Iran to resume negotiations and reach a final agreement on Tehran's nuclear program. (Associated Press)
