US officials: Trump convenes senior officials to assess potential military action against Iran
Odaily Planet Daily reports that three US officials stated that after negotiations with Iran reached an impasse on Sunday, Trump met with the national security team on Monday to discuss the next steps regarding the Iran war, which may include resuming military operations. According to US officials, Trump hopes to reach an agreement to end the war, but Iran has rejected many of his demands and refused to make meaningful concessions on its nuclear program, bringing the military option back to the agenda.
Trump has recently issued multiple public threats, warning that if diplomatic efforts fail, he will bomb Iran’s infrastructure facilities. Officials noted that one option under consideration is striking 25% of the targets that the US military has identified but not yet hit. US officials said that Vice President Vance, US Special Envoy Witkoff, Secretary of State Rubio, Defense Secretary Hegseth, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Dan Caine, CIA Director John Ratcliffe, and other senior officials are expected to attend the meeting on Iran.
