OpenAI Misses Multiple Growth Targets, $600 Billion Computing Power Commitment Raises Concerns

CFO Sarah Friar warned that if revenue growth fails to keep pace, the company may struggle to fulfill its approximately $600 billion commitment to computing power procurement in the future. The board has also begun to review the data center investment and expansion plans.

The report states that ChatGPT user growth, revenue targets, and subscription retention are all under pressure. Although OpenAI recently completed a $122 billion funding round, there are ongoing discussions within the management regarding long-term capital expenditure and the pace of an IPO.
