Odaily Planet Daily News: Cybersecurity firm Bitdefender has reported that, just days after the theatrical release of the film "The Odyssey," pirated files disguised as HD WEBRip and Blu-ray rips have begun circulating. These files are actually executables that infect Windows devices once run, carrying the information-stealing malware Lumma Stealer. The attackers use icons resembling VLC Media Player or video files as a disguise.
Lumma Stealer is capable of stealing browser passwords, payment information, autofill data, remote desktop credentials, and cryptocurrency wallets, and can also obtain authentication cookies, putting even accounts protected by multi-factor authentication at risk of hijacking. Bitdefender stated that its products have blocked related downloads and flagged command-and-control domains linked to this operation. The campaign closely resembles a 2025 operation that distributed the same malware disguised as files for "Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning." (Decrypt)
