This agreement consolidates the Department of Defense's existing on-premises software licenses into a unified contract to reduce costs associated with decentralized procurement. The agreement, negotiated by the U.S. Department of the Navy, is for a five-year term with a five-year renewal option, covering the Department of Defense, the Coast Guard, and intelligence agencies. Previously, in May of this year, the Pentagon signed a similar $96.9 billion, five-year software consolidation agreement with Microsoft. (Reuters)
