US military announces military operations near the Strait of Hormuz
Odaily Planet Daily News On May 29 local time, the U.S. Central Command warned that it would conduct military operations near the Strait of Hormuz and would strike vessels involved in or supporting the laying of sea mines under the pretext of self-defense. The U.S. Central Command, through the Joint Maritime Information Center, issued a notice stating that Iran is still attempting to hinder mine clearance operations and safe navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, and any vessels found to be engaged in mine-laying activities could become targets of U.S. military strikes. Meanwhile, the U.S. military stated that it continues to enforce maritime blockade measures against Iran. As of May 29, 115 commercial vessels have been forced to change course.
