Observation and Viewpoint
With the end of the Winter Olympics, a new week has ushered in. Polkadot officials seem to have some new developments. Not only Polkadot, but many projects are also establishing partnerships to promote the development of the platform. The first is the situation of the Polkadot network and the Kusama parachain slot Auction.
As of now, the fourth batch of Kusama Auctions has all ended. On the evening of February 20th, the projects that won the Auction were all connected to the Kusama relay chain. At the same time, the fifth batch of slot Auctions was opened on February 21st. On February 18th, Polkadot’s 10th Parachain Slot Action opened, and it is expected to end the 10th Auction on the evening of February 24th. Previously, Joe, the technical integration director of the Web Foundation, initiated a proposal to discuss the progress of Polkadot Auction so far and the timetable for future Auctions.
There are currently 27 parachains running on the Kusama network at the same time. Given that this number is far ahead of Polkadot, the Parity team suggests a long-term plan to add parachains to Polkadot.
Therefore, the proposal proposes to conduct 7 Auctions for each LP in the next 4 LPs. But if there is any need to slow down the pace of Auction, there will be enough time for discussion or voting.
This reflects the role of governance in a project. Projects have different needs at different stages. The operation of the project should be adjusted according to local conditions. It would be too blunt to implement it according to the previous route of completely following the white paper.
After the governance mechanism is introduced, there will be a very large room for operation. For example, the accelerated pace of Polkadot slot auctions is one of the manifestations. In the future, Polkadot's governance mechanism will continue to be optimized, and it will become a pioneer in the governance of major public chains.
On February 22, Zero Knowledge Validator will hold a "Privacy on Polkadot Network" themed event. Before that, Dieter Fishbein, head of ecosystem development at the Web3 Foundation, discussed the future of the Polkadot ecosystem.
Taking Astar as an example, Astar Network, as a multi-chain smart contract center, has become the largest TVL in the Polkadot smart contract protocol after enabling EVM. Through the cooperation with Subsquid, a GraphQL API service provider, the dAppps project on Astar can use Subsquid to manage the data on the original chain, and greatly reduce the complexity of obtaining and converting blockchain data.
