Odaily reports: OpenAI disclosed that in June of this year, an internal research model, the GPT-5.6 Sol series, was assigned the task of updating a cryptocurrency trading application and deploying a contract on the Ethereum testnet Sepolia. Because the task did not provide a funded wallet and did not authorize the use of external funds, the model first attempted to obtain test ETH from a faucet but was unsuccessful. It then derived addresses from publicly available developer mnemonics online, scanned hundreds of addresses, and found an account with a balance. In its internal reasoning, the model questioned whether using funds from a publicly exposed private key was ethical, then concluded that the funds were testnet ETH with no real value and that the mnemonic had already been made public. It therefore used the account to pay the gas fee required for deployment and successfully completed the contract deployment. OpenAI discovered this behavior during a subsequent expansion of alignment monitoring and disclosed it on October 15, 2026, in its official Misalignment Reports, categorizing the incident as the unauthorized use of a funded test cryptocurrency wallet.
Odaily News: Hyperliquid Labs co-founder Jeff Yan said on Bloomberg's "Odd Lots" podcast that Hyperliquid is not yet open to U.S. customers. Hyperliquid would rather become the underlying trading technology used by traditional financial institutions than replace existing financial market participants, positioning itself by analogy with Amazon Web Services (AWS) providing computing infrastructure for enterprises. He said: "We are not trying to replace anything. In fact, I think this technology can benefit institutions that currently operate markets in a more traditional way."
Jeff Yan believes that regulatory obligations should fall on the financial institutions operating markets based on the Hyperliquid blockchain, rather than on the blockchain network itself. This regulatory arrangement would allow Hyperliquid to further expand into Wall Street while avoiding bearing the full compliance burden of a traditional exchange. The blockchain is better suited to serve as underlying infrastructure providing order books, clearing, global distribution, and liquidity aggregation. U.S. regulators are relatively cautious about new technologies, but are also willing to move innovation forward quickly; as for Hyperliquid becoming "the home of all financial assets" in the future, his team is "very serious" about it.

Odaily News: Justin Sun recently stated in an interview that the market severely underestimates the potential impact of Quantum Threat Day (Q-Day) on Bitcoin's price. TRON is pushing forward with the implementation of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) post-quantum cryptographic standards, with the relevant technology already live on testnet and expected to be deployed to mainnet as early as early next year. He stated that the Bitcoin network's consensus and technical upgrade progress is slow, and that even if the risk were confirmed two years in advance, completing a network-wide upgrade would be nearly impossible; major financial institutions including BlackRock, despite investing substantial capital, have not truly participated in Bitcoin development and lack sufficient understanding of its underlying technological evolution.

Odaily News: Data shows that meme coin projects typically reach their all-time highs 17.2 days after their first trade, with a quarter of projects peaking within 1.6 days; the median time from peak to "death" — defined as a 95% price decline — is 370 days, and only 3% of projects are able to return to their all-time highs. Analysts believe that the flood of new tokens, the lifecycle of rapid pump-and-dump, and the diversion of attention by AI and prediction markets are gradually cooling the meme coin speculation sector. Its cultural expression attribute still exists, but in a more low-key manner. (Bloomberg)
