Odaily reports that Darkfost posted on X platform stating that BTC funding rates on Binance have turned negative, dropping to -0.0073%, indicating strong short demand in the derivatives market. Binance's funding rate formula uses a 0.01% interest rate parameter, so a neutral funding rate is not 0%. The last time a similar situation occurred was in June this year, when BTC was priced at approximately $62,000.
Darkfost noted that this week's U.S. CPI and PPI both came in above expectations, fueling market expectations of future Fed rate hikes. BTC experienced a pullback after breaking above $87,000 several days ago. Currently, two price levels warrant attention: $80,000 and $74,000.
||DSML|| parameter>Odaily News: AI data center developer Nscale plans to raise up to $3 billion through an IPO as early as this month, but has been revealed to be facing challenges including construction delays, equipment failures, regulatory issues, and employee complaints. Its flagship project—originally planned to build a 30-megawatt data center—is approximately 6 months behind schedule overall, and to accelerate construction, the company arranged for hundreds of construction workers to stay in a floating hotel. Additionally, the project has experienced liquid cooling system leaks and transformer fires. Local safety inspections also identified 10 violations, including ungrounded exposed components in high-voltage systems.
Nscale was spun off from crypto mining company Arkon Energy in 2024. It has secured over $103 billion in contracts but has almost no data centers in operation. As of August, its actually built target compute capacity was less than 1% of its overall plan, relying heavily on leased capacity from other data center operators to fulfill contracts. The company's IPO filings show that Microsoft and Anthropic account for approximately 85% of its contract scale; Anthropic has committed to spending approximately $44.6 billion on dedicated AI chip infrastructure for the Monarch campus in West Virginia, but Nscale has yet to secure the financing and long-term chip supply agreements needed to fulfill that contract.
Meanwhile, Nscale is seeking an IPO valuation of up to $35 billion. CEO Josh Payne previously summarized its model as "owning land, power, data centers, chips, and software," but multiple projects have yet to achieve this vertically integrated model, with power supply, grid connection, construction progress, and customer delivery all constituting potential bottlenecks. Odaily News: Osmosis has stated that bOSMO, a liquid staking token issued by Backbone Labs, has a redemption contract vulnerability. Since April 2026, each redemption through the contract has double-counted OSMO staked by Backbone's own validators, causing redeeming users to receive approximately 50% more OSMO than they should be entitled to, with the excess paid out borne by other bOSMO holders. To prevent further harm to other holders from community pool redemptions, relevant parties executed a single transaction on October 10 to redeem approximately 776,000 bOSMO and withdraw approximately 1,299,700 OSMO. The OSMO involved in this redemption is expected to complete unbonding on October 24. Osmosis will compensate the 1,037 accounts that held bOSMO at the time of the snapshot with approximately 40,500 OSMO, based on a pre-redemption ratio of 1.1174 OSMO per bOSMO. The compensation will be automatically distributed after unbonding is completed on October 24, requiring no action from users. Following the redemption, the asset backing of bOSMO has dropped significantly, and redeeming each bOSMO through Backbone now yields only approximately 0.06 OSMO. As the vulnerability remains unfixed, the market can still mint new bOSMO at a cost of approximately 0.039 OSMO, and pricing in some liquidity pools may be significantly higher than the actual redemption value. Osmosis advises users not to purchase bOSMO or provide liquidity to related liquidity pools, and recommends that existing liquidity providers withdraw their funds.

Odaily News: On-chain analyst Murphy posted on X that during the recent BTC decline, the scale of BTC transfers to exchanges by short-term holders (STH) increased significantly, with an average of approximately 2,200 BTC transferred per hour within a 4-hour window, reaching the fourth-highest level since the market rally began in August this year. However, the transfer peak on October 15 was already lower than that of October 8, indicating that the potential selling pressure from short-term holders has somewhat weakened.
In contrast, long-term holders (LTH) transferred only about 480 BTC per hour to exchanges during the same period, roughly one-fifth of that of short-term holders. Murphy noted that on October 8, long-term holders had a transfer peak of approximately 3,700 BTC per hour, which may have been partly related to asset transfers triggered by a hardware wallet security incident. However, considering that both long-term and short-term holders showed large-scale transfers on that day and BTC prices fell rapidly, actual selling pressure still existed in the market.
Murphy believes that during the current decline, those transferring BTC to exchanges are primarily short-term holders, while long-term holders remain relatively stable overall, and the transfer intensity of short-term holders has weakened compared to before, reflecting that the BTC holder structure still possesses a certain degree of resilience.
