US House Democratic leader: No impeachment of Trump for now

Odaily reports: Following the U.S. midterm elections, Democrats are set to regain control of both the House and Senate, but party leadership is seeking to downplay the possibility of immediately impeaching President Trump, shifting its policy focus to inflation, cost of living, and government accountability.

According to U.S. media reports, House Democratic leader Hakeem Jeffries said on Wednesday local time that no Democratic representative has so far raised a demand for impeaching Trump with him. Speaking at a press conference, Jeffries said he had not discussed impeachment with any Democratic representative, and that the caucus has been focused on improving people's affordability and fulfilling Congress's oversight responsibilities over the executive branch.
