Goldman Sachs: Global Data Center Investment Demand to Reach Approximately $8.5 Trillion Over the Next Five Years
Odaily reports: Goldman Sachs has released a research report, raising its 2030 global data center capacity forecast from 217GW to 273GW, a significant increase from approximately 103GW in 2025, representing a compound annual growth rate of about 21%. The bank estimates that approximately 170GW of new data center capacity will be added globally over the next five years. Based on the empirical assumption of $50 billion in investment per GW, this corresponds to potential capital expenditure of approximately $8.5 trillion.
Goldman Sachs also raised its 2030 U.S. data center capacity forecast from 125GW to 152GW, projecting cumulative additions of 103GW after 2025, accounting for roughly 60% of global new capacity during the same period. Goldman Sachs believes that the rapid expansion of new cloud service providers such as Neocloud to meet GPU demand is also one of the important reasons for the upward revision of U.S. capacity forecasts.
