Restricted token holding rules set to tighten as four XRP Ledger fixes await mainnet activation

Odaily report: XRP Ledger developers have proposed four fixes aimed at closing exceptions that allow restricted tokens to enter accounts without issuer approval. The changes have been integrated into the network upgrade fixCleanup3_5_0 but have not yet been activated on the mainnet. Some restricted tokens on the XRP Ledger require issuer approval before an account can hold them, and developers found that several methods of bypassing approval still exist. The fixes include requiring both tokens in an automated market maker pool to be approved before buying into the pool, and fixing an issue where approval checks were only triggered on trust lines with a zero balance, allowing trust lines that already hold tokens to still receive more tokens. The XRP Ledger Foundation said the changes are routine protocol hardening rather than a security incident, and there are currently no reports of affected users.
