Musk: Superintelligent AI May Not Rule Humanity, and Work and Money Will Gradually Lose Meaning in the Future

Odaily reports: Tesla CEO Elon Musk recently said in a conversation with Walter Isaacson, author of "Steve Jobs," that the intelligence level of future artificial superintelligence (ASI) may reach thousands of times that of humans, but it is highly likely that it will not actively seek control over human society. Rather than being ruled by AI, humanity is more likely to face the risk of being ignored by superintelligence. He believes that the development of AI should be centered on curiosity and the pursuit of truth, avoiding unpredictable behavior caused by conflicting rules.

On the economic level, Musk predicts that digital superintelligence alone could drive global economic output growth of 20% to 30%, equivalent to adding about $30 trillion per year. If embodied intelligence such as humanoid robots achieves large-scale application and space resources are further developed, the global economy could theoretically expand by a factor of 1 million. By then, humans may no longer need to rely on labor to make a living, work will gradually transform into personal interest, and the importance of traditional currency may also decline.

Musk also predicts that AI is expected to surpass individual human intelligence in 2026 to 2027, and exceed the collective intelligence of all humanity in 2030 to 2031. The number of humanoid robots may reach at least 100 million in the next 5 years and exceed 1 billion within 10 years. (AI Era)
