RedotPay Acquires Japanese Crypto Exchange BTCBOX

Odaily reports that crypto payment service provider RedotPay has announced the acquisition of Japanese crypto asset exchange BTCBOX, and will subsequently provide services compliant with Japanese regulations through BTCBOX. RedotPay currently does not hold a Japanese crypto asset exchange business license, and acknowledges that its existing services for Japanese residents do not comply with local regulatory requirements. The company will restrict and ultimately terminate the relevant services in phases. RedotPay has suspended new user registrations in Japan and has removed its App from the Japanese Apple and Google app stores. BTCBOX was founded in 2014 and obtained its exchange business registration in September 2017. After a customer information leak in January this year, BTCBOX suspended all services and has been resuming them in phases since August 3. RedotPay stated that it will provide BTCBOX with funding and technical support.
