Lobbying Spending Drops Quarter-over-Quarter, but Coinbase and Other Institutions Still Spent Over $4 Million in Q3

Odaily报道 — After the CLARITY Act stalled in the U.S. Senate in September, Coinbase and several major crypto industry organizations saw their federal lobbying spending in the third quarter decline compared with the second quarter, but total spending for the quarter still exceeded $4 million and has remained above that level for six consecutive quarters. The bill was intended to establish a regulatory framework for the digital asset market. Internal industry disagreements over stablecoin yield business, pressure from traditional banking groups, and controversy over ethics provisions concerning politicians' crypto asset interests were seen as factors behind the bill's failure to pass. In the first half of 2026, the crypto industry invested more than $8 million to advance market structure legislation, with Coinbase spending about $2.2 million, Kraken nearly $1 million, and some lobbying firms terminating their partnerships with crypto industry clients in the third quarter.
