Zakura Proposes Allocating Independent Viewing Keys for Each ZEC Cross-Chain Swap to Guard Against Quantum Computing Breaks
Odaily reports that the Zakura team, developers of new Zcash software, has proposed allocating an independent viewing key for each ZEC cross-chain swap completed through NEAR Intents, in order to defend against privacy threats posed by future quantum computers. When users swap ZEC for USDC, NEAR Intents publicly discloses a Zcash address on the NEAR public chain for refund purposes; this address carries a public key generated from a viewing key, and future quantum computers could potentially use Shor's algorithm to derive the key in reverse and link the account's receiving records and memos. The proposal would allocate viewing keys independently to each swap, while spending keys remain in the user's main account, and refunds would be located through private information retrieval.
