Vitalik: EIP-8288 may be the ideal path for Ethereum to support multiple cryptographic schemes, avoiding the need for new precompiles

Odaily reports: Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin posted on X that EIP-8288 may be the ideal path for Ethereum to support multiple cryptographic schemes.

Vitalik noted that users can generate any type of digital signature locally and generate corresponding proofs via STARK, which are then included in on-chain verification by a STARK aggregator, without additional consumption of on-chain calldata space.

He believes that with this approach, Ethereum may no longer need to add precompile contracts in the future to support new cryptographic algorithms.
