Michael Saylor Responds to MSCI Potentially Removing MSTR: Sets a "Bad Precedent" for the Industry, Hopes MSCI Will Reconsider

Odaily reports: Michael Saylor, founder of bitcoin treasury company Strategy, responded in an interview with Bloomberg to the possibility that MSCI's new index rules could remove MSTR. He stated that the move does not matter much to Strategy, as the amount of capital they control is relatively small, but he is disappointed with MSCI's stance to date. Oil, natural gas, land, and machinery all count as capital, yet bitcoin does not—this is a value judgment and in fact a bias against digital assets. They are like unregistered financial advisors, setting a "bad precedent" for the entire industry, and he hopes they will reconsider. Digital assets represent the future; MSCI may not want to participate in this future, but investors will not agree, and the United States will not agree either. If MSCI abandons its proposal to remove MSTR, it would benefit the entire industry.

Regarding the core dispute over whether Strategy is a company with actual operating business, Michael Saylor compared it to banks and insurance companies. He argued that these financial institutions sell credit and policies, while Strategy uses bitcoin to support digital credit products, so Strategy is an operating enterprise and should be viewed like other financial companies.
