Lighter Launches EVM Devnet, Enabling Smart Contracts to Directly Manage Trading Orders
Odaily reports that decentralized perpetual contract trading platform Lighter has announced that its EVM devnet is now live. The network was built in collaboration with Axiom and is an OpenVM-based EVM-equivalent Rollup that runs in parallel with Lighter Core. The two parties plan to jointly settle to Ethereum via a single zero-knowledge proof (ZK Proof).
Developers can use tools such as Foundry, Hardhat, Viem, and Ethers to deploy smart contracts, read account, balance, position, order, and market data on Lighter Core, and directly create, modify, and cancel orders through smart contracts. In addition, the network supports transferring assets between the devnet L1, Lighter Core, and Lighter EVM.
Currently, development teams can apply for access via email. Lighter will grant access in batches and plans to open it to all developers in the coming weeks.
