Solana plans to reduce target block time to 200 milliseconds at Epoch 1053
Odaily reports: The Solana blockchain network plans to reduce its target block time from 250 milliseconds to 200 milliseconds when it enters Epoch 1053 on Friday, completing a series of缩短 adjustments that began at 400 milliseconds in August.
This upgrade will enable the network to produce 5 blocks per second, while simultaneously lowering the compute cap per block to keep overall throughput roughly unchanged.
Faster block production may reduce transaction latency and transaction arbitrage activity, but it will also increase validator voting demands, put pressure on network connectivity, and shorten the transaction validity window. (CoinDesk)
