Quantum-safe upgrade as early as 2027: Starknet is considering transitioning to L1

Odaily reports that Eli Ben-Sasson posted on X that Starknet, which currently relies on Ethereum's underlying security as an L2, is considering multiple options, including transitioning to L1, in order to independently control the network's security migration process and address cryptographic risks that may arise from quantum computing and AI. Starknet is built on ZK-STARK, possesses cryptographic agility, and has already formulated a post-quantum security migration roadmap; Ethereum plans to achieve full L1 quantum resistance by the end of 2029, while Bitcoin has not yet made a similar commitment. Starknet is expected to complete the relevant upgrade as early as 2027.
