Already in use, with the Swift blockchain ledger expected to onboard at least 19 banks by the end of the year

Odaily reports that Swift CEO Javier Pérez-Tasso stated at Sibos 2026 that Swift's blockchain-based ledger is already in use, with some of the world's largest financial institutions currently using it.

By the end of this year, at least 19 banks are expected to connect to the ledger, enabling 24/7 payments through tokenized deposits covering 5 major currencies. Swift announced the development of this ledger last year.
