U.S. and Iran Reportedly Set to Meet Soon to Discuss Seven-Day Strait Reopening Proposal

Odaily News: An official familiar with the U.S.-Iran negotiations revealed that the United States and Iran are expected to hold another round of talks through mediators on the 28th or 29th. Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi and Qatari mediators are currently in the United States, and the talks are expected to focus on revising Iran's proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, which was put forward during the United Nations General Assembly. On the 22nd, U.S. Special Envoy Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Kushner held indirect talks with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi through Qatari mediators during the UN General Assembly in New York.

According to U.S. media reports, Iran proposed that if the United States lifts its maritime blockade, cancels oil sales sanctions, and restores a regional ceasefire, Iran would reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days and restart nuclear negotiations. U.S. President Trump confirmed to the media on the 26th that he had rejected Iran's proposal. On the 27th, Trump stated that he expects the United States and Iran to restart negotiations within the next week. (CLS)
